Diversity Pipeline Programs Director

About BASF
BASF is a nonprofit organization and the oldest voluntary bar association in California. Today, over 7,000 San Francisco lawyers are members of BASF, which prides itself as being one of the most active and innovative local bar associations. Our offices are located in the Financial District. In addition to services and benefits to our members, BASF provides a variety of legal services to San Francisco residents including our Lawyer Referral and Information Service, Alternative Dispute Resolution, and the Justice & Diversity Center (including the Homeless Advocacy Project) which is the largest provider of legal services to San Franciscans.

BASF also offers a variety of charitable programs, including Food from the Bar, Head Start Holiday Gift Program, Law Academy, School-To-College, Destination Law School and the Minority Law Student Scholarship programs.

About the Job
The Diversity Pipeline Programs Director is responsible for the operation of diversity pipeline programs, community based programs and directly manages the School-To-College Coordinator. The Director shall organize and develop programs within the policies and mission of BASF and assume accountability for the financial results and the outlined program goals and objectives of BASF/JDC’s diversity efforts. Specific responsibilities will include overseeing diversity pipeline programs in elementary through law school; establishing and developing working relationships and partnerships with SFUSD, colleges and universities, Community Based Organizations, law schools and other related educational institutions.  The Director shall recruit and manage lawyer volunteers and donors, and work with the BASF Barristers Club and BASF committees in reaching BASF’s diversity goals; evaluate program effectiveness and improvements; collaborate with the Development Department to do fundraising and support grant proposals; and collaborate with the Communications Department on handling public relations and marketing of diversity programs, projects and events. The successful candidate will have the following:

Education

Bachelor’s Degree in a related field or an equivalent combination of relevant education, training, and expertise sufficient to perform the essential duties of the position

Experience

Experience working with diverse and underserved students on education (K-12), college and law school needs

Skills and Requirements

  • Develop and implement organized youth, community and educational programs and services
  • Collaborate and conduct outreach (both inside and outside of the organization)
  • Plan and market events
  • Build relationships with professionals, public administrators and students

  • Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel) Skills
