The Organization
The California Minority Counsel Program (“CMCP”) emerged in 1989 in response to the disparity between the percentage of minorities in the state population and in the state’s legal profession. Since then, its mission has been to increase the diversity in California’s legal profession and to provide professional opportunities for attorneys of color. It is CMCP’s firm belief that the legal community and the industries it serves benefit greatly from California’s rich and diverse community of legal service providers. To that end, CMCP has assisted numerous corporations, law firms and public agencies in their commitment to diversifying the legal profession and providing access to talented diverse attorneys who might otherwise continue unnoticed. CMCP does this through independent initiatives and partnerships with like-minded organizations.
The Position
Approaching its 20th year in service, CMCP is in an exciting period of growth seeks to expand offered services to its members. The Director of Programs is responsible for the achievement of CMCP’s programmatic objectives set by Executive Director and Board. As such, s/he will oversee and facilitate the provision of programming for the CMCP membership in each targeted region of Sacramento, San Francisco, Silicon Valley Los Angeles and San Diego. This position reports to the Executive Director.
Duties
- Create and manage CMCP programs addressing the professional needs of each member constituency, in each targeted region, including community outreach programs.
- Develop CMCP program marketing strategies, including development, preparation and distribution of marketing and promotional materials.
- Assist the Executive Director in oversight management of the program and event aspects of the Annual Business Development Conference.
- Lead in development of comprehensive volunteer/internship program; supervise Community Outreach staff and/or program volunteers.
- Lead the design and administration of program needs assessment tool; create analytical progress and assessment reports and future programming recommendations and projections for Executive Director.
- Recommend and manage budget for program development.
- Develop and manage relevant resource development projects, including development and submission of grant proposals and reports.
Qualifications
- Demonstrable record of program development, marketing, organizational strategic development, event planning, project management and performance assessment; priority will be given background in and knowledge of nonprofit management and leadership.
- Degree in education, administration, business, nonprofit management, law or related field preferred or an equivalent combination of relevant education, training, and experience; experience in legal field or related area a plus.
- Ability to travel (day and overnight trips) to attend programs and events in regional targets.
- Experience training, developing, supervising and appraising personnel; working with volunteers desirable.
- Knowledge in MS Office Suite, In Design or similar marketing software.
